As conscious Queens across the diaspora continue breaking barriers, I’la Vibez rises with her velvet voice and potent lyricism. Revolutionary, cultural, and social elements assemble in what she describes as “I-ritical” music — a Rastafari expression of spiritually inspired word-sound power.
Born in the Washington, DC area during one of its most turbulent eras, I’la found spiritual elevation as a youth through the Rastafari way of life.
Her catalogue includes “Rise Again,” a collaboration with one of her earliest reggae influences, Vaughn Benjamin — the mystical prophetic voice of Midnite and Akae Beka. The tracks “Mighty Road,” “African Mama,” and “Try Love” were produced by reggae bassist and producer Errol "Flabba" Holt, with drums performed by Lincoln "Style" Scott of the legendary Roots Radics. She has also recorded “Emperor Haile Selassie” alongside Addis Pablo, further connecting her work to reggae’s enduring lineage.
An 'Afro Go-Go Roots' interpretation of her song “Born Again” was released as the title track of the album Born Again, produced by Matt “Swamp” Guinee’s Crank LuKongo, bridging ancestral African rhythms with the cadence and storytelling of DC’s Go-Go tradition.
Whether in studio or on stage, her music embodies the feminine balance, rooted in a high-vibrational frequency.
